Of course, not every day on Community is the same. But if there was such a thing as a typical day, here's what it might look like.
Led by a different Community member each day, we start the day as we mean to go on - by connecting with God.
Morning prayers is a time for feeding back and praying for each guest houseparty, praying daily for members of the Lee Abbey Movement by name, and reading a passage from God's word.
The time you spend serving on your particular team varies according to the duties of that team. Some people need to get up early on some days to prepare breakfast or do other early morning jobs; others will start after lunch or at different times during the day.
With elevenses (at 10.30), lunch, 4ses (afternoon tea) and dinner, you are unlikely to starve at Lee Abbey!
At lunch and dinner when we have guests, Community eat with the guests, serving them, enjoying conversation with them, and clearing plates afterwards.
At 8pm, there is usually a guest activity in the Octagonal Lounge. This may be, for example, a quiz, an evening of international entertainment provided by Community members, or a Communion service.
Community are asked to join in these activities on at least two evenings each week. At around 9.30pm, there is a time of quiet reflection which we often call "Christ In Quiet", for Community and guests to thank God for the day and all that has been done.
The Community lounge, TV lounge and kitchen become focal points for the social life of Community particularly in the evenings after the end of the guest programme.
On Wednesdays, we have our weekly Community Communion service ("Corpus") and Community meeting. Wednesday is an important day for us as a Community, and ends with Life Groups, which are small groups of around 10 people meeting in homes for Bible study, other activity or just time together.
On Sundays, there is a rota of essential duties which involves most of Community. We also have a Sunday service in the morning for both guests and Community, which all Community attend.
At various times in the year, we close the House to guests. 'House Closed' times are great for spending time together: training, enjoying a slightly different routine, and preparing for the coming houseparties.
