| 10-15 mins | 1 km | Easy |
A flat and level path takes you quickly out to one of the headlands on the Lee Abbey estate. Stand at the end and look down the rugged coastline or across the sea to Wales. You can walk up to Duty Point Tower too if you like for a higher vantage point.
| 10 mins | 0.5 km | Moderate |
Standing on the hill symbolically above the Main House, the crosses are a poignant reminder of Jesus' sacrifice. You can walk up to them in just a few minutes and spend time in reflection or marvel at the panoramic view, both of the House and of its surroundings.
| 2-4 hours | 4-8 km | Moderate |
This circuit takes in the best overviews of the valley, Lee Bay and the forest, with Lee Abbey in the centre, on good tracks. There are several longer and shorter ways you can go, all with some great lookout points.
| 3-5 hours | 12 km | Moderate to hard |
Walk to Lynmouth by the coast path (below), and then take this beautiful circular route via the Two Moors Way and Tarka Trail, Watersmeet (with tea rooms), Countisbury, and some of the most dramatic coast path anywhere.
| 1-2 hours | 5 km | Easy |
East to Lynton
Following the road from the Lee Abbey estate through the stunning Valley of Rocks takes you to a relatively easy but rewarding section of the coast path. Fully surfaced and accessible, this walk ends in the village where you can visit the shops or cafés.
| 1-2 hours | 6 km | Easy |
West to Woody Bay
This route takes you along the lane through the trees to the next bay with very little climbing or descending. Here's a way to experience the coast in a different way without emerging from the cool green of the woods...
| 3-4 hours | 12 km | Moderate |
West to Hunters Inn
If you don't mind a little up and down, carry further along the coast path and reach the Hunters Inn pub in its beautiful deep valley. You'll pass stunning views like this one (left), and pass both cliff edge and shady valley.
| 4+ hours | 12+ km | Hard |
And even more West!
You can continue as far as you like beyond Hunters Inn! Be warned: past this point the path climbs from sea level to some 250m in altitude and drops again. But the adventurous will reap the rewards in breathtaking views from the rugged cliff edge. This has to be one of the most rewarding sections of the whole Coast Path.
