Here are some of the ways people have raised money so far. Could you be the next to organise a great event? Let us know!
John Pangbourne completed a 115-mile epic trek from Wembury Bay on the south coast of Devon up to Lee Abbey on 11 June 2008.
He commented, "It was a great walk at just the right time of year. And the weather? A bit like the curate's egg: sunshine and showers."
The last day had to be completed later due to appalling conditions, but with a fund-raising target of £2,000 I think we can agree it was a success!
Sunday 1 June saw a special afternoon at Lee Abbey as local businesses exhibited, activities and entertainment was laid on and people came to enjoy a fun few hours at the Devon house. The day went really well and raised over £1,500.
The Lee Abbey National Coffee Morning encouraged many people to organise a get-together over tea, coffee and biscuits, in the month of April to raise money for the Project. A great way to deepen friendships, meet new people and help Lee Abbey!
One 'A time to Stir' event raised a staggering £900 as it was combined with a Prayer Day at their church.
Some of the Derbyshire Friends Group led by Wendy Palmer invited friends, family, colleagues and church members for coffee or tea and scones and cream (using the Lee Abbey Tea Cottage scone recipe of course!), and 29 people passed through the house on Saturday 19 April. Wendy said, "It was a time to renew contacts, make new acquaintances and see something of the work and life of Lee Abbey Movement, including photographs from Devon." They raised £103.
81-year-old Lee Abbey Friend Lucia East completed a 40-minute sponsored Sky Glide, raising over £9,000.
Despite poor weather conditions in Wales on the morning of 14 May, clear skies eventually allowed the attempt, supported by friends of Lucia as well as John and Ann Turner representing Lee Abbey.
Lucia said, "It was a wonderful day and I loved doing it. I am open to the next challenge!" Full story...
