What's in a programme?

Community, creativity, worship, teaching and space

A Lee Abbey 'conference' or 'retreat' isn't about intensive teaching or withdrawal from other people. It's a balanced programme (see table below), and you can dip in and out as you wish.

The programme and atmosphere varies between church weekends, all-age family holidays and many different styles of midweek. A Host Team at Lee Abbey will prepare the programme 2-3 weeks before it begins.

We cannot guarantee particular items, but a typical day might go something like this:

8.00am Informal morning worship and prayer
8.15-9.00am Buffet breakfast with hot food or croissants
10.15-11.30am Teaching session, beginning with worship; often including drama or multimedia items
12.00-12.45pm Second teaching session (some conferences)
1.00pm Lunch, served at tables of 10 or 12
Afternoon Walks, craft, sport, or just space to enjoy
5.00pm Themed workshops on spiritual, interesting, creative and/or practical subjects
6.30pm Dinner, served by the Community
8.00-9.00pm Entertainment, quiz, concert or Holy Communion service
9.30-9.50pm Quiet reflection with readings and music
